Teen Autism Group (TAG) is designed for adolescents and young adults with ASD to practice social skills, enhance life skills and work on self-advocacy skills in a fun and relaxing atmosphere with activities that build on one another. This program is for spring and/or fall semesters. Entries to this group are available as openings occur each semester. It has a closed number of participants and is limited by age and diagnosis.
Attendance is mandatory for the duration of the group which is typically a semester long (6-8 sessions per semester). This is an excellent opportunity for teens to make lasting friendships and be provided with social skill feedback by facilitators.
Participants should be between the ages of 13-17, have Asperger’s/PDD-NOS, HFA, be interested in attending the group, be independent in their toileting, not require 1 to 1 support, and be able to effectively communicate in a group setting of 10-12. Individuals should be recommended by their coordinator and may require an interview to be admitted.
