ASPIRE is an acronym created by our autistic adults, and it stands for Adults on the Spectrum Pursuing Interests, Recreation and Entertainment. These events and outings are a fun way to make friends and connect with others who may have similar interests! All ASPIRE participants must be registered with UCF CARD and be 18 years or older. Participants can attend events in any county. ASPIRE has a private Facebook group page, and there are events for young adults and for the 40+ group as well.
Participants must be over 18, graduated high school, and independent in functioning in public. They should be able to handle their own funds/cards for purchases they may make, be interested in socializing with others while attending, be psychologically stable (no Baker Acts for aggression or self harm for at least 3 months), refrain from physical and verbal aggression and able to participate without parent supervision/participation. Individuals who have companion care may attend with their companion, but should socialize with the group. Any companions would pay full price for anything required for the outing. Please note this group is only for adults with ASD, NOT families or parents. Parents must be available by cell for emergencies.
